Two Newly-Ordained OAR Priests Celebrate Canta Misa in Baguio City

Newly-ordained Recollect Friars, Fr. Ivan Cuison, OAR and Fr. Jhoben Rodriguez, OAR, celebrated Canta Misa in Baguio City last February 3 and 4, 2024, respectively.

Fr. Ivan Cuison, OAR, the second Recollect priest to be ordained from Baguio City had his Thanksgiving Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Church, Baguio City last Saturday’s anticipated Mass, February 3, 2024.

Fr. Emilio Quilatan, OAR, the homilist, emphasized on the vocation of Religious Life as a teacher of the Word of God, a healer of souls by administering Sacraments, and a witness of what he preaches.

Fr. Quilatan also encouraged the faithful to strengthen their prayer life for it is through prayer that a vocation can survive.

 “Pray and persevere,” he added.

At the end of the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Fr. Ivan expressed his utmost gratitude to the people who became part of his journey to priesthood.

Dinner and thanksgiving program followed at Casiciaco Recoletos Seminary (CaReS)  gymnasium.

The first Recollect priest who hails from Baguio City is Fr. Jonathan Caballero, OAR.

Canta Misa is also known as Misa Cantada or Holy Mass of which the celebrant sings most of the parts of the Mass, his first Mass in his hometown parish, as his thanksgiving to the Lord for being chosen as one of His priests.
