BAGUIO CITY— Jornadas de Filosofia 2022 is back with the theme “Walking Together in Truth towards the House of God,” which lasted from March 28-April 1, 2022.
The theme is taken from the school year 2021-2022 motto and objectives of the Augustinian Recollect Educational Apostolate (EDUCAR) which says “Let Us Build Together the House of God,” which in turn is present in the writings of St. Augustine.
Aside from this, the Dean of Studies of the seminary said that the theme echoes the ongoing event in the Church.
“The theme makes this year’s celebration of Jornadas de Filosofia participate with the current mind of the Church on synodality,” said Rev. Fr. Anthony P. Irineo, OAR referring to the Synod: 2021-2023 For a Synodal Church which Pope Francis opened last October 10, 2021 and will culminate on 2023.
Though such is the case, Fr. Irineo, OAR, Dean of the Seminary, one should not set aside the real intention of the celebration.
“Jornadas de Filosofia is celebrated as the culmination of the Academic Year and inculcation of the value of philosophy in seminary formation,” the Dean said.
Fr. Irineo emphasizes the integral process of seminary formation and how the prepared activities of the week cascade to the seminary life.
Once again, the four seminary fraternidades— Fraternidad de Cristo Rey del Universo, Fraternidad de Jesus Nazareno, Fraternidad de Sto. Niño, and Fraternidad de Jesus Divina Misericordia—compete in the daily activities scheduled in the week-long event.
Poster-Making and Bulletin Board Contest
On the first day of the activity, the fraternidades presented their eco-friendly bulletin boards with the posters as centerpieces which two representatives from each team made two-days prior of the event.

“The bulletin board reflects what we learned in Philosophy,” said Bro. June Clark Solas the capo of Fraternidad de Jesus Nazareno and the representative of his group during the presentation.
Fraternidad de Jesus Nazareno won the first place in the said event, breaking their three-year record of being in the last place.
“Throughout the years we learned because of our failures,” Bro. Solas said. “Now our bulletin board is a product of creativity and critical reflection,” he added.
Fraternidad de Sto. Niño Jesus placed second in the said competition, followed by Fraternidad de Jesus Rey del Universo and Fraternidad de Jesus Divina Misericordia, as 3rd and 4th placers, respectively.
