Jornadas de Filosofia 2021 Day 4 — The Mercifuls won the Amazing Race.

Baguio City— Seminarians proved to be both brains and brawns on the fourth day of Jornadas de Filosofia 2021 with the Amazing Race last April 15, 2021.

The four confraternities gave their best for the Amazing Race that took place in the vast seminary grounds having each five stations all over the compound pushing the participants to the limits.

The race required not only physical dexterity and intellectual proficiency, but also the virtues of a champion such as teamwork, patience, and perseverance.

The stations included Kawayan Race, Philosophy Word Association, Latin Conjugation, Connecting Straws, an Obstacle Course, and Picture Puzzles.

Right from the start, the Mercifuls— the name which the members of the Fraternidad de Divina Misericordia give themselves—took hold of the lead in all the stations securing the most sought-after victory among the other Jornadas de Filosofia activities giving them a 60-point lead in the total tally of scores.

“I had an epiphany,” shared a Second-Year Seminarian Bro. Carl Cabasag of Fraternidad de Divina Misericordia, the winning fraternity of the event.

“The shouts, reactions, and other actuations of my fraternity made me reflect how good it is to live in a community with diverse personalities, yet able to work as one,” he added

In relation to the theme “Philosophy: Seeking Truth as a Community,” Bro. Cabasag also believes that it is hard to seek the Truth alone and tends to go astray without proper direction.

Puzzling Pictures. Participants drench themselves in flour finding the pieces of the puzzle.

All throughout the race, Fraternidad de Cristo Rey del Universo and Fraternidad de Sto. Niño tagged along the top contender, displacing each other for the second place.

Though Fraternidad de Cristo Rey del Universo arrived second at the last station, they were outdone by the two other fraternities in the construction of the Picture Puzzle, which made the Fraternidad de Sto. Niño and Fraternidad de Jesus Nazareno rank second and third placesrespectively.

“I never got to experience this kind of activity until now,” relayed Bro. Heljen Lance Acha of Fraternidad de Cristo Rey del Universo a first year college seminarian.

“I didn’t expect it to be this fun. Altogether, the experience was invaluable,” he added, further relating that even if they failed to bring home the bacon, they still feel victorious because of the created bond between them.

The Amazing Race bears the highest score for the final tally of scores and is also the penultimate contest before the Quiz Bee on the culmination on Friday, April 16, 2021.
