Baguio City—Intellectual travails continue on the second day of Jornadas de Filosofia 2021 April 22, 2021 with the Essay Writing Contest.
For an hour, two representatives from each fraternity— one for English and another for Filipino categories— poured forth their writing prowess on the theme “Philosophy: Seeking the Truth as a Community,” in the said competition.
The participants see the relevance of the theme to the modern society as a whole and even to one’s life and vocation.
“Oftentimes, we have different notions of what is the truth,” said Bro. Jestoni Latagan, a 4th year college seminarian, the representative of Fraternidad de Divina Misercordia for the Filipino category.
“In the world today, there is a need to arrive at an objective Truth and the same goes to our vocation. We need to know the Truth and be formed according to Him,” added Bro. Latagan who is also the capo(head)of his fraternity.
Some representatives who participated in the essay writing contest related that it was an “exciting” experience for them.
“The competition itself was difficult for me considering that it is my first time to join such an activity,” shared Bro. Fortune Cano of Fraternidad de Jesus Nazareno, a first year college seminarian. “Although I had a hard time finding the right words, it was really exciting and I had a lot of fun.”

The winners of the Essay Writing Contest in English and Filipino will be announced on the culmination of the week-long activity Friday, April 6, 2021.
