After the opening mass, all the alumni gathered in the seminary refectory for the “Kamustahan”, a special program intended to refresh them of their experiences during the time that they were still seminarians of the institution.
The entire community was serenaded by the all female band The Bean Bag Roasters of Kaffe Klutch. They brought the whole crowd into get-up-and-go stance.
To revive and perk up the memories of the alumni, a special video presentation containing pictures of how young they were as seminarians and how they transformed after many years. The before-and-after throwback pictures of them set off the crowd to fall down laughing. “This celebration is really an awesome experience for me. I missed my batchmates and the community so much.” said by Rev. Fr. Russel Sungcad of Batch 1987, who is presently the Parish Priest of San Antonio Abad Parish in Cebu. He further added, “I am always really inspired by the life of the Recollects. Even though I’m already a Diocesan Priest, my discipline and my spirituality is truly still Augustinian Recollect.”
During the roll call of the batches, the yell of the Batch 1994, who marked the largest number of attendees, dominated the crowd. It was attended by 9 alumni members. Mr. Peb Villacrucis, who is presently a Sheriff in Cebu City, said that the alumni homecoming actually served as a meaningful get-together for their batch. “Even though we are far from each other, we still continue to acquaint with each other. That is I think the secret why many of us were able to attend this event” he shared.
The night ended for whole Casiciaco Recoletos community with hearts full of joy.
